...my cat who is a rescued neutered male has re-started humping blankets and sucking the blanket at the same time. He gets quite 'happy' and squeeks if you interupt.
What would you do? I feel so bad taking his blankets away but it's a bit odd and you can see his bits when he does it
I've got the behaviour on film to show the vet in February but I want to know if it's normal before I subject him to a vet trip.
Thank you in advance for any help!

I've had a quick google and apparently it's fairly common. Someone wrote 'That's not unusual, especially if a cat or dog is neutered or spayed when they are a little older. Just having the surgery does not remove the natural urge they have - it's driven by their hormones, It's natural behavior', but I don't know if this is actually the reason for it, and I don't know if you'd be able to stop it or not

You're lucky it's a blanket - our James perches on my shoulders and gets "excited" like that!******** Never be a spectator of unfairness or stupidity *******"Always be calm and polite, and have the materials to make a bomb"0

Reading this website, I'd say you're quite lucky it's a blanket too, lots of people saying the cat prefers their leg/head as humping material :rotfl:

actually he prefers my shoulder while I'm asleep! sometimes he just cuddles up but sometimes he does more

I didnt write that incase it was weird and I wanted to save his embaressment:rolleyes: not sure why, seeing as he's a cat!
He's currently at it again... I've tried switching the thing he humps but he prefers the soft fleecy blankets and only ever when he's on the bed!
Glad you all think it's normal

I'm glad it's not just James, too (he at least looks a bit embarrassed when he does it!).******** Never be a spectator of unfairness or stupidity *******"Always be calm and polite, and have the materials to make a bomb"0 -
