Hi,
I posted here a few days ago about loosing our current property. Since posting i have managed to find somewhere which may be suitable, But now here is the problem. Housing and council tax benefit.!
I am hoping that tomorrow morning i should be getting a call to confirm i have a working position full time, Although i will have to wait 6-12 weeks before any pay. (I have to attend a training programme before hand*)
I have contacted shelter and my local council - Along with the homeless unit. I am getting told 3 different stories and now i'm totally confused.
We have been told that because my partner is working but on a low income, We are entitled to Hb & Ct, To which they all agreed, But the amount is always changing.
Here is a little about us:
Working:
My partner, Employed, 20 -30 hours - Bring home should be around £175 weekly.**(Before tax, NI, Pension.)
He gets: £125.00
Me, No employment at present
Here are the quotes i have been given today,
Shelter: £138.65 weekly, HB & CT should be £8 weekly
Council: £106.20 weekly, HB & CT should be £0.00 weekly
Homeless unit: £89 weekly, HB & CT should be £29.00 weekly
I think now you understand why i am confused. Either way, There will still be a massive short fall in our income, There is no way we could afford to still live there, Pay council tax, Water, ect..
Can Anyone explain how they work further for me please & If you know if these rates are right for a one-bed-property.
