Hello there, I am from Wakefield and got engaged last May, me and OH are getting married at Weetwood Hall Hotel on the outskirts of Leeds, it is lovely and reasonably priced. Check out their website!

They also have a wedding fair on this sunday (17th Jan) which is free to go to, so check it out if you like.

We also considered various Cedar Court Hotels in and around west yorks as they have wedding packages.. but in the end we chose Weetwood as it that bit more special to look at, and the inside and ceremony rooms are gorgeous! its also good because you can get married and have the reception there and they lots of rooms for all your guests to stay over :)
Now a married lady and loving it! Now..to clear that pesky mortgage!

Hi, we had our reception at Walton Hall/Waterton Park and loved every second. Very happy and all our guests were suitably impressed it was reasonably priced aswell! I know a few people who have got married there and everyone pleased so far, infact one of the guests at our wedding is getting married there later this year because she liked it at our wedding.

I believe Denton cater for Hog Roasts. Good luck with finding the perfect venue. x

We were originally thinking of having a fairly relaxed day, with the ceremony later in the afternoon (so we would then only need to feed people once) and a hog roast or something rather than a formal sit down dinner, so some of the venues that although lovely might not be suited to that. It would only work the way I'm picturing it on a beautiful warm sunny summers day though which is never guaranteed!

HB81- that is sort of the idea we have but a lot of the 'nice' venues force you to have a sit down wedding breakfast. So far have ruled out Oulton Hall and Waterton Park for that very reason.

BeckyArch- we are looking at Weetwood this Sunday (combining wedding fayre and venue visit 2-in-one :rotfl:) It is sort of our first choice at the moment..really hope it is as nice as you say :o

We're still debating which wedding fair to go to on Sunday - Weetwood Hall, Waterton Park or the Holiday Inn (Garforth)... was just going to the HI as it's most convenient with other stuff we've got on, but now I'm not sure!
  • Hi, we got married at the Sun Pavillion in Harrogate

I cant post a link as a newby, but you can google it

It's absolutely beautiful and overlooks Valley Gardens which are breathtaking & look fab on your photos. We booked a room at the Old Swan in Harrogate (as did a lot of our friends & familly) & it was a 5minute walk I walked from the hotel to the Pavillion in all my finery and it was absolutely fine (saved on cars etc!!)
There;s also a travelodge within 10min walk which a lot of our friends stayed at.
We got married there & then had a BBQ reception which was exactly what I wanted....not too formal & the staff were so helpful

    Hi there,

Last year, we went to a wedding at Hazelwood Castle, which is between Leeds and Tadcaster (Its around half a mile from the A1/A64 junction if that's any help)....Beautiful surroundings and gardens, wedding chapel within the grounds, food unbelievable. Unsure about how pricey it was though!

Also try Oulton Hall, I've heard they do a good day. Its in the Rothwell/Swillington area:
