Don't know about Toronto but the Pacific Palisades in Vancouver is meant to be great. Or cheaper, the HI hostel on Granville st has dorm beds or private rooms. Both are very central. Public transport in Vancouver is good and should be able to get you anywhere you want to go within the city (and mountains nearby). Further than that there are greyhound buses, etc....depends where you want to go?0

Hi,
The Sandman hotel in Vancouver is nice( next to BC place).
car hire is expensive and Toronto downtown is a nightmare to find somewhere to park I would use the underground in Toronto or the trams and it's a great walking city,as is Vancouver. If you were going to hire a car in Toronto I would use the money for a nice hotel, the Sheraton centre or the Marriott Eaton center is nice.
Some of the discount hotel sites do great deals you can use the Canadian sites as well.0 -
I stayed at the Marriott Eaton Centre in Toronto a couple of years ago and I agree with snowbelle - it is indeed very nice. They were just completing a complete refurbishment at the time (the rooms were all done, just the lobby was being finished). The location is perfect - it is connected to the Eaton Centre by a walkway and close to 2 subway stations. We walked almost everywhere and it was very easy to get around. This space has been intentionally left blank0

Hi
Vancouver - It would depend on you and who you are travelling with. I do really like the Granville Island Hotel - very close to downtown centre, you can get the cheap water bus across the inlet. Nice location. I wouldn't stay at any budget hotel which is on a road starting with 'east' even if it is called the savoy/ ritz etc!
The Howard Johnson hotel is ok too and I think you get free breakfast?. If you want real budget accomodation you could try the YWCA hotel, good location and have a variety of private rooms -
Have a lovely time0
