Hi,
We(my sister and I)have been in the process of selling my late mother's house since sept.Offer accepted mid sept and looking to complete 22nd Jan.No chain either side, problems previously the buyers sols were Wolstenholmes but buyer has new sol and everything going ok. Our sols now say we will exchange and complete on the same day, says it's not unusual and usually means the funds aren't/can't be in place in time to exchnage earlier. According to EA funds are in place and buyer is ready - completion date was what he wanted. just have a bad feeling about it all

What is your question, please?Declutterbug-in-progress.⭐️⭐️⭐️ ⭐️⭐️0

why would you exchange and complete on the same day, most people do it weeks or days apart?0
-
Why not?
What is the reason for such a long gap normally?
Just some breathing room to set things up for the move, not having done so previously in case exchange doesn't take place?0 -
maybe i am over thinking things then, but when we accepted an offer in sept with no chain or neither side and was told it would take 8 weeks in total approx to go through and we are still here waiting plus our sol seems a bit surprised it's all happening on the same day0

I have always exchanged and completed on the same day. It wasn't until I joined this board that I realised this isn't the norm.
My only issue is that I have always been on time with my move and the vendors have always been loading up the removal van at 3 / 4pm on the day of completion which isn't fair.0 -
thanks for that, that's was I mean `It wasn't until I joined this board that I realised this isn't the norm.` moving won't be a problem house is empty and the buyer is doing work on it before he moves in0
