Just a a winning text - won 4 tickets for SFX weekender at pontins camber sands - they are calling me within 24 hours to confirm address details to send them out - i can't go but would anyone like them??? Hi, I got a text too at 3.29 to say I have won 4 tickets to the SFX weekender and I am not sure how I won them or what the prize involves. I have replied to claim them and when you look online for tickets they are for hundreds of pounds with accomodation too. So this is a great prize if I have won a weekend away with that much but I am just not sure.

Has anyone else won and knows what the actual prize details are?

I just got a text too saying i'd won 4 tickets, when i replied they said they'd call in 24 hours. I'm pretty sure i havn't entered any competition to win them though. Have either of you entered the gadget show competition? It's a bit weird that theyre giving away thousands of pounds worth of tickets to people who didnt enter a competition

SFX weekender should be brilliant fun. I was actually planning to buy tickets to go along, but for those living locally and thinking you can use the tickets, I will warn you now that you can't. Terms say that you have to stay on site at Pointins.

It is a great prize but I think so many giveaways are because the organisers expect you to spend a lot of money when you get there. For those who don't know what these weekends are, it's basically a sci fi geek fest, with guests from Buffy, Torchwood, Dr Who, and lots of other shows turning up. These guests then charge for photo sessions with themselves or autographs, normally running at about £10 -£15 a pop.

SFX magazine will have block booked out the entire pontins camp for the weekend. They will have to pay for any rooms not used, therefore it makes financial sense to get the rooms filled up in the expectation that you will get there and buy "extras".. lots and lots of extras. That way they may loose out on the room cost but guests are normally paid either by a share of their photograph and autograph sessions or by way of a separate fee with SFX getting 100% of the autograph and photo sales. SFX need people on site willing to spend money in the hope that they meet the expected bills for the actual guests and that way finance the weekend.

and yes there was definately a competition on here to win tickets, I remember entering it.
