Crewe to London by train for £39.70 at peak times
Options
For a Crewe-London ticket at peak times you can pay £82 in advance or £200 on the day to go on Virgin Trains' Pendolino service. However, there is a much cheaper option available.
If you take the Arriva Trains Wales service from Crewe to Shrewsbury it costs you £19.70 for a return ticket. From Shrewsbury an open-access rail operator called Wrexham & Shropshire run a service to London Marylebone, they use a standard fare throughout the day, which is £40 for Shrewsbury-London return or from £10 for a single in advance (on any train.) The earliest arrival in London is 08:57.

Thanks for that Hstudent.
Should your title price be £59.70?
A much cheaper alternative, but arriving in London slightly later, is to use 'London Midland Trains only' tickets.
An Off Peak Day Return (via LM only) is £30.00. The earliest London arrival is 10:49, and it does take three hours.
Advance Singles are available (again via LM only) for £8, £11 or £15 each way, depending on date and time.0 -

£39.70 is possible using advance singles at £10 each on Shrewsbury-London. £59.70 would be using the on-the-day price of £40 return between Shrewsbury and London.
But I've edited my original message to make clear that the £10 advance is available on any train and not just the later ones.0 -
It looks like the £19.70 price may be more than it actually is for a peak return between Crewe and Shrewsbury. There has been bugs in the new National Rail website recently. However, the £10 fares for Shrewsbury-London were taken off the Wrexham & Shropshire website not National Rail so are correct.0
