Thanks
Here are the details I've got:
kia picanto
A small, 3dr economy car
1.0 Litre0 -
£50 (@ +/- 40mpg)0

Because I'm a geek and like sums.
Assuming petrol at £1.10 a litre and 40mpg from the car;
1 Gallon of petrol will cost £4.99 (based on 4.54 litres to the gallon)
(£1.10 * 4.54)
If the car does 40mpg 40mpg/£4.99 = £0.12 per mile
£0.12 * 420 miles = £52.44

Bear in mind you wil have to buy some new wheels for the return journey.0

It'll be less than that. The Picanto will get pushing 60mpg on a run like that. So lets say 55mpg, which I think is its official combined figure. Using Catflea's figures:
55mpg / £4.99 a gallon = 11.022p a mile.
*420 = £46.29
You can probably get your fuel a bit cheaper too. Petrolprices reckons cheapest is 107.9 in Glasgow, mainly at supermarkets.
So... £1.079*4.54 = £4.899.
4.899/55 = 8.9p a mile, *420 = £37.41.

I was trying to avoid saying something liek that
Be prepared to be underwhelmed with the car!Proud of who, and what, I am. :female::male::cool:0 -
But it's a Picanto for gods sake. It might not even make it down there.... and you'll be suffering from numb bum by the time you arriveFight Crime : Shoot Back.
It's the mark of an educated mind to be able to entertain a thought without being seduced by it.

Always best to consider the worst case! 40mpg is prob a safer bet than 55pmg as well - one of my friends has a Picanto (he knows nothing about cars ) and he reckons it struggles to get more than 45-50 on a long run. (thats MPH as well as MPG :rotfl:)Proud of who, and what, I am. :female::male::cool:0 -
I learnt to drive in one, GF's sister has one, they're great little cars! My instructor said he did 90 in it on the motorway 'for test purposes', quite happily once it was there. Although they were both the 1.1 which is meant to 'feel' much faster. You'll be fine, if a little less comfortable than you could be!0
