Did Skandia pass all the fee to you or did they keep some? (I assume they did, otherwise no benefit to them.)
Like most fund supermarkets, the only initial is in what the adviser takes.
The fund supermarket gets a cut of the AMC, even if its small. Plus, there is always the bit of cross subsidising. They know they are not going to get much from tracker but very few people stick 100% to trackers as you just cant get a balanced portfolio with only trackers in the unit trust universe. Skandia have a £50 member fee (a variation on what was mentioned earlier about what may happen post RDR?)
Skandia dont target small premium business. The £50 p.a. member fee takes care of that. However, for large cases the £50 is nothing if you are getting rebated trail (or heavy on the trackers at 0.1/0.2%)I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA).
