MBNA - Be careful!

Just got a letter this morning from MBNA - informing of a handling fee change. Usually, because I don't use that card for balance transfer/cash/credit card cheques, I see the first line of the letter and ignore the rest!
Anyhow, read further down today (for some reason!) and it says during March this year, the payment due date will change. They've not told me to what date (?), but said to keep an eye out to make sure I pay on time!

I think they'll catch out a lot of people with this, and make quite a bit in charges - so I thought I'd post a quick warning incase anyone does the same as me in selectively reading the letters :D

The only way to win with them is set up a full DD

Min if your on a pref rate for a BT!
  • I used to have a DD with them as a safeguard, which was a fixed £25 per month - but when I made any advance payment, I found they were still taking the DD, even when I totally cleared the balance. So I got a bit irritated and just decided to go it alone - and I'm totally obsessive when it comes to payment dates, so its freaked me out that they're changing it without telling me to what date (lol - OCD anyone?!)

Excellent! Glad I'm not the only one - feels good when you see the balance reducing though doesnt it? You can always catch up on sleep when it's all paid... !!
