Snow and Grit( the lack of!)

The grit could be sold to other countries, I'm sure this already happens.
No offence - but you really have no idea what you're blethering on about, do you?0 -
Like mentioned above, flood plans are worked out and policy is made on them. It's a boring process but people do it. The same could possibly be done for snow falls and winter cold periods. Although, in my opinion, it's not the snow that is the problem it is the ice.
Also, grit companies have been telling the councils for months (mid-summer, I think) that they haven't got enough stock-piled to last a cold winter, yet they have done nothing. It would also help if they shared excess grit between other worse-hit areas. Glasgow City Council have been stock-piling theirs and not sharing it with, say, Fife who have run out.0 -
Councils in Cheshire have been rationing salt even though most of the country's salt is mined in Cheshire meaning that it's more likely to be a budget issue rather than the fact they can't get salt transported around the country instantly.
BBC News 24 have reported councils buying salt off other councils, Herefordshire was one mentioned to have been doing this.0 -
Councils put out yellow grit bin for use by the public to get to the places they can't.
Does anyone have a yellow grit bin near them, and do they make use of it?
We had to drive to the next estate to reach our nearest one, though I've subsequently emailed our local Councillor to request one for our estate (fat chance but 'don't ask, don't get'). We used the couple of big bucketloads we took from it on the 2 closest and worst bends on slight inclines near our home.
Other people were clearly using it too, not only did it have grit/salt in it, it also had numerous beer cans/bottles and empty crisp packets! :beer:0 -

Are you for real! I pay council tax which in turn pays for all the services in the area, inc fire, police and ambulance. I haven't used any of those services in the last 12 months so should I get a refund too?
Wake up your council has to provide for everyone in your area your not special even if you think you so you wont get any special treatment.Everyones opinion is the most important.....no wonder nothing is ever agreed on.0 -
