BT Phone/BroadBand/TV T&Cs QUestion

Hi,
I'm in the process of sorting out a new flat and have been studying my options for phones, broadband and the possibility of getting TV thrown in as well and BT does seem attractive however when reading the T&Cs I feel extremely worried; especially as the packages are seemingly there to screw you over than save you money.
If you look at the home phone T&Cs on its own, it is essentially free for 12 months bar the standard line rental. No mention of any other charges. As soon as you're in a package these change to a minimum 18 months and you have to make 10 chargeable calls or get a whopping £6 charge - I see a lot of comments about this already on here.
The same pretty much happens to the broadband and TV - the individual T&Cs seem okay and all are 12 month deals but when in a package I've noticed these all hit 18 months without really saving me that much money.
Being in a flat for the first time I'm not sure if in 6 months I'll be wanting to move out or what, so I may stretch to 12 months but 18 seems way too high. Has anyone had any experience getting BT to come down to 12 months at all on any package and get rid of the 10 calls minimum charge? And I presume you can transfer your account if you move but at a cost I assume? (BT website is sketchy on that!).
At the end of the day, if they won't change the T&Cs then I won't sign a thing. They're a blatant rip off with these terms - the only reason I would go with them is that I can transfer my BT/Yahoo email over off my parent's home account I've been piggy backing on. However, I do have tha backup of alternative line rental and broadband through O2 where I can get it essentially free via Quidco.
Any help and advice would be much appreciated!

Sorry, have no useful advice EXCEPT just be aware that if you ever have any queries/problems/technical issues with your BT service you will get precisely nowhere with their abysmal customer service, you have been warned!0

Luckily I've never had that experience, being a bit of a computer geek always in a technical computer job does seem to have helped over the years setting things up etc. Plus after hearing so many awful things about the rest of the ISPs and phone companies and having had awful CS off Virgin as a student it does feel like my options are limited.0
