Hardship case...

I hope somebody here can help me, I feel desperately left out to dry and completely helpless and robbed of money which the banks dont deserve to have taken from me!
These charges are ridiculous, the nation is in debt. That is negative equity. It makes us poorer. Fact.
The banks think it makes them richer. The money they charge (£30 overlimit fee here, another one there...) is completely procured out of thin air. It doesnt come from anywhere, its just typed into a computer and hey presto, the bank is £30 richer.
That £30 has not been used in full to pay somebody to tell you that you've exceeded your limit. That actually costs very very little
Its like a tax, money goes from the poor to the rich, just because they are poor.
Now, on the 8th September 2009 I sent Barclays the request to see my statements
I never received it, they never contacted me. I presume they were using the postal strike (another thing which p*sses me off, lets not start...) as an excuse.
So I called Barclays, I explained that I felt I qualified as in Financial Hardship and the chap said I would receive a call within five days to discuss my case. I never received a call. That was back in late October
Didnt hear a peep from them
Now I'm furious. They just ignored everything.
What do I do? Do I contact the Ombudsman?
Plleeeeeeeaaaaaaaasssse give me some advice, I'm going out of my mind here. Im being shafted from all sides by a financial system designed to make money out of nothing.
I THOUGHT WE WERE AN ECONOMICALLY DEVELOPED DEMOCRACY, THIS FEELS LIKE DICTATORSHIP!!!!!!
AAAAAAAHHHHHHH

Come to think of it, when I received nothing within 40 days of sending the statement request letter, the chap on the phone said something was sent out to me on the 24th september
It never arrived and I asked him to send it again. Still nothing

I was on the point of sympathising and offering you some advice.
Then I read your last paragraph.
Whilst said in jest and frustration, the comment is offensive.
I suggest you edit the post immediately please as its not funny and sadly, these things happen for real.
BTW it's not evil b******s I object to, its reference to guns.
Once you have done so, I will edit my quote of your post to remove trace of the comment. I appreciate you have just joined and are facing some difficult problems, but so are many other people.
Hopefully we can then move forward. Please ignore those people who post on this forum who deliberately try to misinform you. Don't be bullied by them, don't be blamed by them. You know who I mean.
You come here for advice, help and support- thats what I and like minded others will try to do.0 -
Why have you created a new thread with the same OP as one you made about 90 mins ago?

Can you please remove the last para of your first post, which is offensive. Hit the edit button which will get you started.
There is no need for 2 threads exactly the same. Please ignore those people who post on this forum who deliberately try to misinform you. Don't be bullied by them, don't be blamed by them. You know who I mean.

Ok, firstly, in your anger and double posting, a lot of information is lost in between the rant.
To clarify, you asked for statements about September time with the fee attached and at a later point in time they have stated they sent it out, is that correct?
The second issue is financial hardship which you believe you are suffering.
On the first issue, have you confirmed with Barclays where the request was sent? Can you confirm with them that they have the up to date address and that they can give you a timescale for receipt of the missing data?
On the second issue, are you still using Barclays? Do you have priority debt arrears, ie mortgage/rent, council tax, utilities? Have you made contact with those priority creditors to see if they are able to help if you are going through financial difficulties as they may be able to help as well?0 -
Ok firstly, I am sincerely sorry about the paragraph that caused offence. Its easy to forget so many eyes can see the ramblings and spittings of a frustrated man on the internet.
Barclays have my correct address, I have a copy of the letter I sent to them and I headed it with my home address. It is the same address to which my statements are sent - and I receive all my statements.
I still use the account, and while I can just about cover the costs of my outgoings, in the past I have resorted to credit cards when a large payment for something like my vehicle or several bills are due.
I cant clear my credit cards, I am constantly plagued by it.
Thats what I really need my charges back for - there are about £850 worth of them, and it would get me out of this sinking ship rapido.
Regardless of claiming hardship, have they broken the rules by not responding to my request?
Seeing as I requested these statements before the recent case closure in December does my case still stand?
Sorry once again for the fuming, I have calmed down and will be reasonable - and FYI when I first posted a thread I pressed refresh and it didnt appear to be there, so I made another one. Woops!!0 -
Hello again
I understand re last paragraph, I have been there and I share your frustration.
You should make a complaint to the Information Commissioner as Barclays should have responded within 40 days. Send a copy of your original SAR along with your complaint to Information Commisioner. You will find complaints for them on the web.
As Nattie said, do you have priority debts, are you in hardship?
Who is the credit card with? Have you got charges on that? Consider getting a list of all charges on that account and reclaiming those.
I would also complete an income and expenditure profile. We are also awaiting new templates, these should be available towards end of January. Please ignore those people who post on this forum who deliberately try to misinform you. Don't be bullied by them, don't be blamed by them. You know who I mean.

I would however, complain about the time and inconvenience of not receiving the statements since they have been able to send you bank statements and letters but not a simple straight forward request.andrewnfrench wrote: »Ok firstly, I am sincerely sorry about the paragraph that caused offence. Seen it before so don't worry but information specific can mean that you will rant on post 1 and then give information helpful to try and sort it out afterwards.
Barclays have my correct address, I have a copy of the letter I sent to them and I headed it with my home address. It is the same address to which my statements are sent - and I receive all my statements.
OK, that takes out one issue of the address out of the equation
I still use the account, and while I can just about cover the costs of my outgoings, in the past I have resorted to credit cards when a large payment for something like my vehicle or several bills are due.
This bit may mean that they will not see your case as financial hardship/
I cant clear my credit cards, I am constantly plagued by it.
FWIW, I have a credit card that is not cleared each month but I still make the payments which I think you may do as well.
Thats what I really need my charges back for - there are about £850 worth of them, and it would get me out of this sinking ship rapido.
Regardless of claiming hardship, have they broken the rules by not responding to my request?
The answer is no, they will claim that they were sent but lost in the post. I would ask them to re order them and for them to be sent to a local branch for you to pick up. That means, (a) you will have a central point to pick them up and (b) if they aren't there then you have someone in front of you who can find out why they haven't been received.
Seeing as I requested these statements before the recent case closure in December does my case still stand?
Financial hardship cases have always been there regardless of the OFT test case. My initial thoughts are that it is unlikely they will see the case as financial hardship unless you have priority debt arrears(mortgage rent, council tax, utilities, etc, etc,). No cases would be looked at in terms of a what if the statements had arrived on time and you had written to them during the test case. It doesn't work that way.
Sorry once again for the fuming, I have calmed down and will be reasonable - and FYI when I first posted a thread I pressed refresh and it didnt appear to be there, so I made another one. Woops!!0
