Capital one annual cashback bonus - £10 for everyone!

Noticed an item on current Capital One online statement
'£10 - Annual Cashback Bonus'
The card pays 1% annually on purchases and as at the last statement I had accrued around £30 cashback, which is due with end January statement. Rang them to see how my £30+ had dwindled to £10 and was told that this wasn't my bonus, this was an extra £10 they were giving to all cardholders as compensation for some built in insurance that was being withdrawn. Apparantly all Capital One cardholders are getting this!

My partner mentioned it yesterday to someone at work who has one, he checked and he has! Still not sure why they list it as 'Annual cashback Bonus' when it ain't!

Yes it's real there was letter about it a few months ago, think it was a sweetener as they removed some travel protection policy that was previously included (a policy that I hadn't even noticed was included originally anyway so din't bother me!). It's on the Capital One World Cashback card (perhaps others as well I don't know) mine came through at the beginning of January a few days before my £125 main cashback! £135 for nothing this year and free Equifax credit reports, I really like my Capital One card!

I didn't have a letter about it, thus the surprise!

Should have been around August, maybe it got lost in the post, here's a thread about it from around the time the letters went out:
