groaning hot water pipes

Hi, i live in a flat (owned not rented) and have noticed that a few seconds after i turn the hot tap on 9either in bathroom or in kitchen) there is a groaning noise, presumably from the pipes.
Does anyone know what this means and what I should do about it.
The hot water seems to be working fine but i'm worried the noise could mean something bad.

Probably just the pipes expanding as the hot water runs through them. They are probably rubbing on joists or possibly holes that they run through. My central heating clicks every time the pipes heat up. Not really anything to be done about it and not really anything to worry about.
I can afford anything that I want.
Just so long as I don't want much.
  • Moving pipes, should be covered with insulation or laid on plastic to allow slippage/movement
