I get these at least once a week . Not only pretending to be from the Halifax but Lloyds TSB and a whole bunch of American banks. The funny thing about this is that I haven't got an account with any of these banks. I have never received ones from the banks I do have accounts with. I have also received them supposedly from PayPal and EBay . In all cases I go on line to the proper company's web-site , found out their ant-fraud department and forward the offending e-mail onto them. They usually reply , thanking me for bringing it to their attention.
What part of "A whop bop-a-lu a whop bam boo" don't you understand?
• No Bank or financial instutuion would ever email you asking for personal information, so all emails that ask ANYTHING like that are scams and should not be answered.
Remember - minimum wage is a company's way of telling you that if they could legally pay you less, they would.

I also received one of these emails purporting to be from Halifax, again with the incorrect email address. Subject was "Please confirm your Halifax Internet banking internet bankingidentity". I forwarded it to onlineemailinvestigations@hbosplc.com (email address obtained from the bank's official website) and then deleted the original email. Received an automated response from HalifAx thanking me for forwarding it.

Charger's right - no reputable bank would ever ask for your personal details in this manner.
