i agree, why bother with IE. imo it is sh15.

firefox is far better and can be customised to suit your needs much easier

    Say no to Microsoft!!!!!!

You got to get through what you've got to go through to get what you want but you got to know what you want to get through what you got to go through.

    Err, 7 = "T" ie: 5h17. ;)

Also, some banks for instance don't like FF, neither do some applications that were specifically created for Internet Explorer ie: Text to Speech for instance. Additionally, FF sometimes, dare I say it forgets to render pages successfully. Not only that, some sites don't work with FF but still do with IE.

What you seem to be forgetting is that computers can be tailored to suit individual needs. True FF is more secure than IE, but that doesn't alter the fact that the OP has expressed a need for one particular aspect of their computing experience to be as they would like it. Not as you or anyone else would like it.
It could have been worse. At least source code's not combustible, or you can bet somebody at McAfee would have lit it.

    - For viewing sites that don't support Firefox.
    - Developing a site.

IE isn't as bad as the press it gets. A lot of the security issues can be locked down quite easily. It's lighter and faster than Firefox in quite a few aspects, and has a decent rendering engine.

Personally though I use Opera because it's light and fast and I find very much complete. I use Firefox for developing as it's very extensible thanks to the array of extensions available.

If IE Tab fails, you could try IE View.

IE is fine, the main security issue on PCs is the User.. and if thats a problem, i doubt they would use FF

    fair do's

it just seems a little silly wanting something that does the same job to run in another (if that makes sense)

Thanks ABH and wolfman, I only use IE on the rare occasion a site won't work in Firefox.

E.G. Try ordering your groceries in Firefox, from Tesco.

I've added the IE tab just a few days ago, at first I didn't realise it was swopping the site to IE as the toolbars etc all stay the same you just get a IE logo in the address bar next to the site address. If that's not your prob I'd uninstall and reinstall it, it's working OK for me.
ps right clicking the tab should bring a list that allows you to permanently select IE rendering for a particular site - like Tesco.
    M.E..... MORE than you know
