I just heard a report on radio One that T in the Park are tracing tickets sold for profit on Ebay and cancelling them!!! Is that legal ? Can they do so??
I ahve sold 4 tickets on Ebay as not able to go due to work commitments. I have recieved payment for one set of two but still waiting for payment of the other ones. Where do I stand?

Has anyone else heard this report??
Really hope it not true.

It may be something to do with this.
If there are a lot of stolen tickets about then I can understand why they would need to clamp down on sales.
EDIT:
I just noticed you only mention tickets "sold for profit". Presumably you'll be exempt if you had to sell your tickets because you couldn't go and only asked face value for them. Can I help?0 -
If the tickets have not transferable on them anywhere, or in the terms and conditions when they were sold then yes they can be cancelled.

the thing is, becasue ebay refused to help out the t in the park organisers, this drastic action has had to have been taken. If ebay had co-operated in the first place then it wouldn't have come to this (think Live 8).It's BOUGHT (to Buy), not BROUGHT (to bring) AND you cannot be frauded, only DEfrauded.
Please do not buy animals from a pet store. Visit your local sanctuary or centre and give a good home to an unloved or abandoned animal.0 -
It would be interesting to know how the ticket agency/organisers will know who has a ticket purchased on ebay.0

I wondered that. If I were them I'd be using the "Ask seller a question" feature with something like:steve1905 wrote:It would be interesting to know how the ticket agency/organisers will know who has a ticket purchased on ebay.I really want tickets but have heard there are some fakes about so am a bit worried. Can you tell me the numbers on yours so I know they're genuine? I'm sure they are as I've seen your good feedback. Can I help?0 -
Good point I dont see how they can find out what tickets have been sold on ebay and what havent. It would be interesting to know how the ticket agency/organisers will know who has a ticket purchased on ebay.
Door steward at T in the park - " May I ask sir did you buy these tickets from an ebay scammer "
person with T in the park tickets - " No I bought them from the overpriced ticket merchants that you yourself approved "
Door steward - " thats ok the as long as it was us that fleeced you and not anyone else . Have a nice concert and remember to pay £10 for a hotdog and £20 for a four page program ".
People are grown adults if they want to pay loads of money for tickets let them. Being doing it for years theough legitimate sites with their monoploy and booking fees- I mean why on earth do tickets cost £30 upwards in the first place ? IMHO.

I saw somewhere (and I'm not sure if it was this event) that they were going to do random checks by checking ticket numbers against the name of the purchaser, so make sure you have ID!
Edited to add (copied from their site)
6. Are there going to be names on tickets? If so what happens if I can't go and want to sell the ticket or give it to someone else?
Like last year, all tickets will have the individual who paid for the tickets name on them. We assume you will only be purchasing tickets for yourself, but if someone else paid for your ticket (i.e. your Mum/Dad etc) we will expect you to know their contact details and address. Please bring proof of ID with you as we will be doing random spot checks on tickets and if you do not know the details of the person who paid for your ticket you run the risk of being ejected from the site.0 -
all this worry is alot of rubbish. its all simply aimed at putting folk off selling tickets on ebay.
I have bought tickets for me and my boyfriend through ticketmaster (officially), both say my name on them, i will be going into the campsite much earlier than him, so basically he wouldnt have any ID to say he is me or even associated with me, and wouldnt be with me, so does that mean they will confiscate his ticket - i dont think so!!
there is no way that they can get folk to prove who they are and where they got the ticket
In a worst case, just take a note of the address of the person that you bought it from, simple as.Funky Little Frog0 -

I assume you mean you hope not! Let's face it, if the promotor of an event decides that you're not going in, you're not going in. I think the site makes it reasonably clear that if you can give the address of the person who purchased them (and I assume your BF knows where you live) you will be O.K.0 -
Several Glastonbury's ago they did operate a strict no name no access policy (was it Glastonbury???) I remember the news reports of fans camping outside and waving their tickets at the BBC cameras). The prompoters of that event said the only way to get in was to carry a photocopy of the ID of the person who bought the ticket, something personal that only a family member or close friend would have access to, and that would mean you would get in.
Basically though if a venue want to only allow access to the fans named on the tickets, they can.
