Paid Off the Egg Card!!!!!

Okay so thats a tiny lie

My normal 200 DD came out today, and the 1700 to repay the rest is in the bank

However thanks to being ripped off a few months ago and being the MSE that I am i havent actviated the card which means that i cant do that payment until i get home LOL!

So by 7pm tonight that payment will be on its way so by Tuesday/Wednesday my card will be 0!

Then it will be cancelled

Its a pity because i like the egg phone staff, its a pity some other banks are not as nice, but in honesty their card is no use to me anymore!

Happy days

I'm saving to pay off my HSBC card in September.........was contemplating moving it to another 0% card...but then I decided I would rather be rid of the debt altogether..........then I can consentrate on saving to pay off nationwide card that 0% on ppurchases until Feb07, and doubling the payment on my loan so that instead of 2 or more years left to pay, it will be gone this time next year:D

Then hopefully, I will only have my mortgage.....which no doubt by then will be much bigger than it is now as I want to move:o

A great feeling I'm sure, and a great effort too. Well done!

One thing before you cancel the card though, the Egg card pays 1% cashback on purchases. I use it to buy everything, groceries, movie tickets, whatever I can buy using it basically. And then I just transfer the money that very same day so I'm not tempted to spend it and end up with big bills at the month.

if you can be disciplined, the cashback mounts up very quickly.

Cancelling my egg card tomorrow. I applied for an Egg Money card, and they declined me. Strange, as my financial situation has IMPROVED somewhat since they approved me for the CC.

Seems strange that they can approve me for a credit card when my credit rating is at certain state, yet decline me for a money card that might give ME some benefit when the credit card is x% better. I've not missed a single payment on any card, loan or utility for years now.

    So, voting with my feet.

    Cancelling my egg card tomorrow....

I'll be doing that later...........looking at the website, it doesn't look like they'll be offering any anniversary offers for those who have had their card since before Jan 05...so I may as well get rid..........

Leaves me with 3........IF zero balance...........HSBC £2400 balance going to be paid off in September........and Nationwide currently at £680.....0% until Feb 07

Having just paid off my card with Egg too I just wanted to say Hooray! and that I couldn't agree more about the staff being very helpful and what you would expect them to be like instead of the rude horrid people we usually end up having to deal with. I'm sure that Egg have their horror stories too but so far they are just MILES better than anyone else I have ever dealt with. At the moment I would honestly say that is they did a current account I'd move my banking over with them too :)

Can I ask that you keep checking that egg have shut your card account. I first asked them to close it via the secure email, they said fine would take a few days then it will be closed. I checked still there so I rang up they said looks like it hasn't been activated to close they would do it. So i waited again, still not closed. I've since done this 2 more times and last I looked it was still open.

In fact I've just gone there to check online and yes the egg card is still there, only thing that has changed is the credit limit has gone up which I definatly didn't ask for. Looks like I'll be ringing them yet again.

I dont do any purchases so the cashback aspect is a bit useless to me

Good point though and i had considered it, but id rather have one less CC for credit report and temptation purposes

    I had the same problem.
Turns out I had too much available credit. So, I cancelled a card and reduced my limit on the other, waited two months for Experian and Equifax to be updated, and had no problem after that.
