Oil for dry skin

Hi, My skin has become very dry and itchy over the winter months (heating on far too much:o) I know there was a thread on here about using coconut oil but I can't find it. Has anyone got a link or any recommendations?

  • I like Bio-oil (in chemists/online/costco etc). It is really good on all types of skin...my friend uses it and she has very dry skin and i use it and i have greasy problem skin and it never breaks me out. Has faded my scars and its very soothing.

Try Ebay for coconut oil- they sell most things at a reasonable price. Link......

i think baby oil would work too, going to buy a small travel sized bottle and see. As the almond oil was quite expensive and for my facial oil cleansing method, not that i use it every day.

If you have a local Sainsburys then they stock almond oil quite cheaply.

Coconut oil is fab - I take some in hot tea in the morning cos I hate the taste but it's really great for skin. I had dry skin on my ankles/lower calves and it just goes away. When I don't take the coconut oil it comes back. Course you could just rub it onto your skin. Others use it as a pre-wash conditioner for hair.

Don't use the stuff in health shops if you're going to use it for frying, cooking or drinking (some people eat it by the spoonful but I can't) as it need to be virgin/organic/unprocessed. The thread should help. I use http://www.coconoil.co.uk/ delivery is next day and the people there very helpful and friendly.

    Good luck.

Thanks for the link. I understand it comes in a solid form, can you apply it as a body butter in this way or do you have to melt it?
