Fixed rate saving suggestions please

I noticed on the news the other day that the minutes of the bank of england meeting showed they nearly reduced interest rates the last time round, meaning they may well reduce rates soon. It also seems to be the general concensus that rates will come down if they dont stay level, very few people think they will go up or that we are far from the peak for now.

So, is anyone opting for fixed interest rate deals, either ISAs or savings accounts. Any suggestions

I noticed that HSBC are offering their 'High Interest Deposit Bond' with a special 5.25% fixed deal for a year until Jan 31st (£2000-£10000)

I already have Halifax and Abbey savers and and ISA and a good internet saver so I thought I would lock some up in this to keep this rate.

I also remember Halifax as having some interesting fixed rate ISA deals (though these may have been 4 years or more which is too long for me I think)

Opinions and other suggestions please

My personal opinion is that the next two months is a good time horizon to fix some of one's deposits. I personally plan to do that, and I think I'll give it till the last week of Jan before I decide (just in case some other deal comes up)

I agree with your views. While it is obviously impossible to predict the route the int rates will take, I think I'll indulge in herd-mentality here, and accept the fact that we can, at the most, expect one more rate rise of 25 bps, after which it is going South... so the only downside is I may lose out on that extra 25 bps for whatever amount I fix right now, but am willing to live with that...

Nice to see you agree, have you seen any other good deals recently?
