Bulbs Popping!!
Within the last week or so amidst the really chilly conditions 7 out of 8 of the GU10 bulbs in my house have one by one popped.
All of them in the hall and kitchen which are particularly cold. The cluster of 3 in the lounge are all fine.
Seems a bit odd for them all to go so quickly and within a matter of days?
Any ideas?

Could be the cold causing them more stress particularly when they are switched on. Or it could be that your supply voltage is too high.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0

They were probably all fitted at the same time from new.....3000 / 5000 hours ago (or whatever they are rated at) so it it quite common for them to all go in the space of a few days, but it is easy to think this is a fault !There are three types of people in this world...those that can count ...and those that can't!

Possibly, but some were changed along the way so it seemed extremely strange for a mixture of old a new to pop at the same time!!!
Oh well!! Im saving energry right now huh? Only 1 of the working!0 -
I used to go through loads of these bulbs, used to last 3 months on average.
Got them on a touch/remote dimmer now and current bulbs have been in 2 years now.
I've got a silver one of these (had it over 3 years now) - http://www.diy.com/diy/jsp/bq/nav.jsp?action=detail&fh_secondid=9289686&fh_view_size=10&fh_location=%2f%2fcatal!!!1%2fen_GB&fh_search=touch+dimmer&fh_eds=%C3%9F&fh_refview=search&ts=1263504068730&isSearch=true
but this may be a cheaper option - http://www.diy.com/diy/jsp/bq/nav.jsp?action=detail&fh_secondid=9289684&fh_view_size=10&fh_sort_order=1&fh_sort_by=_price_rrp_min&fh_location=%2f%2fcatal!!!1%2fen_GB&fh_search=touch+dimmer&fh_eds=%C3%9F&fh_refview=search&ts=1263504138746&isSearch=true
The dimmer always starts the bulb on low and fades up to the previous light level to save blowing the bulb on switch on, i'm guessin not running the light at full power / heat helps too.0 -
Did they pop when you turned them on?0
-
DID they flicker or have any other electrical appliances gone too?0
-
We have had 3 of these go within a few weeks of each other too.0
