Kids carseats in malta

Im looking at hiring a villa in malta June/July, Im looking at hiring either 2 small cars or one big 7/8 seater. The issue I have is 4 children aged 8,8,5,4. I want them to be in car seats as thats what they are used to and what is safest. But care hire comapnies are asking £5 a day or £50 per hire, and i begrudge paying £200-£280 for 2 weeks. Can we take our own on the plane?
Or does anyone know where I can buy some in Malta near the airport?
Or does anyone have any other ideas?

We've taken normal booster seats with us before now (the ones without the backs on them). They get packed in a holdall and then go into the hold luggage. They can go separately but most airlines will charge you as they classify as a piece of luggage.
