We're off to the vendors at the weekend to take a few measurements and to take a look around. Also to discuss what they are leaving and taking prior to tying it all up in the contract.

Is there anything to keep an eye out for? Any strategy for doing this? Any pitfalls?

If something is essential to you, then insist it is included.

If they want X for something and you think its too much, a good compromise is to agree as long as Y is also included.

Sometimes people just want to take stuff and there is nothing you can do about it, so be flexible.

Well they seem fairly reasonable people so I'm not expecting to haggle that hard. It's just that my OH has got it into his head that if he doesn't start the haggling on the right footing that we will end up saying "so then, how about the fitted cooker" and they will straight away see £ signs and say "Oh, well we really wanted to take it with us. We could leave it, how much do you want to pay us for it?"
