    !!!!!!!!:
"well because we've had a allot of cold weather the nearby canal froze over, me and my mate drove to this canal, i got out and threw a rock onto it, wich broke, so i decided it would be great fun to do some h'brakes on the canal, after 15 mins of the car not plunging into the canal decided we would drive all the allong it to edinborough but unfortunately and to my utter suprise and shock the car plunged into it".

    insurer:
"hahahahahahahahahaha you being serious or is this a prank call"

    !!!!!!!!:
"no im being genuin here there was a big rescue operation to get us out of it, it was in the newpaper and local rag too"

    insurer:
"haha your having a laugh aint you no one in the right mind would do that in this weather you'd have to be absolutely and utterly off your head to drive on a frozen canal"

    !!!!!!!!:
"but i did honest here's the web address of the paper i was in (gives web addy)"

    insurer
"(after reading on web)well sir that was a bit stupid wasnt it?"

    insurer:
    "thought you would be"

    insurer:
"well sir is there anything else i could do for you, its just i want to play this recording to all my colleages for training purposes"

    dickdead:
"no thanks you been of great help"

insurer after the call to his colleagues:
"what a !!!!ing idiot hay people ytou got to hear this !!!!!! i just had a call off"

i suppose it would go like that then?
  • I think they're heroes, although they should be made to pay for the recovery operation, which won't be cheap.
  • i did laugh a lot when i heard this on the radio today.

the thng is they would probably managed the whole run to edinburgh last week or the week before as it was -10 most nights and never got above freezing during the day.

at least it was one less numpty on the roads!

I doubt the Insurers offshore call centre staff would know what a canal is!

Most Insurers check their records when they see something like this happen to see if it's one of their clients.

The ice obviously wasn't as thick as the driver.
"You were only supposed to blow the bl**dy doors off!!"
  • Insurance? I love your optimism! :)
  • It will not be the drivers fault. A satnav unit will have directed him/her to the canal!:p

I have driven on a frozen lake before, but not in this country, I was in Finalnd, and we went out at midnight to drive what I can only describe as a dune buggy with spiked tyres cross mad max.

We had a total hoot, powersliding round the lake, I must add it was -25 at the time, and had been for some time, so we were very confident that the ice would hold us all.

As for trying that in this country well that's just daft
