thanks for the info guys.
regarding World war 2 historical sites we visited auchwitz
last year(very humbling)
Are there any similar things around prague
Thanks...........
Terezin is about an hour outside of Prague centre, it's easy to catch a bus from Florenc bus station and very cheap. It is a town that was used as a ghetto during hte WW2 to move Czech Jews into, a kind of mid way point before they were sent to Auchwitz.
On one occassion the Red Cross were allowed to visit, and the Germans made the Jews put on a show. Certain inmates were dressed up and told to stand at strategic places along the specially designated route through Terezin. Shop windows along that carefully guarded path were filled with goods for the day. The Red Cross concluded that the Jews were being treated all right.
it is a really sobering day out but well worth it, one of the most huimbling things to see is the thousands of pictures drawn by the children of Terezin.

Well worth a visit to the church mentioned above link here, they give you a video commentary on what happened before going in (the crypt is in the basement)

When we went up to the castle for the midday changing of the guard (worth seeing this) we used to catch the No 32 bus from outside Tescos which would take you all the way up. I think the cheapest ticket which was less than 50p lasted for 20 mins as I recall enough to get you there and save you a walk up. Tix can be bought in the newsagents stalls on the streets.
I also enjoyed visiting the Jewish centre which is very central and the basic tour will last you most of the morning.
Enjoy0
