    Hi,
I have just started an accepted iva. My advice is pay the token payments (£2 pounds a month) durect from your account if you can to save opostage and messing about. Take the calls and tell them you are doing an IVA and paying token paymnets. I dealt with13 card companies and had no hasstle, no quips, all understanding. They will tend to check on your situation and re-call a fortnight later but they just want you to update them. If any send any 'right to contact' folk around...ignore them and don't deal with them as they have no more power than an avon lady. Keep them informed and although they'll pester abd often not read files so you'll get repeat calls from the same company.. but all in all it is hastlle free. Don't be afraid to tell them the truth on thr phone,,,it get's rid of the calls quicker and reduces your stress when you here ther are all ok with it. It is nothing special these days there are thousdands in your and mine situation.

Little one answered to m&s (need to move phones so they cant reach them), these were more persistant and verging on unpleasant and stroppy.
    A better day today

Glad you are feeling a bit better about things - it WILL all be fine.

another tactic could be to let junior answer the phone - then just put it down when you can get it off them - i seem to remember my friends little ones LOVING it when they got to the phone first, and us having to fight to get it off them :rotfl: - how little is your one??? could come in handy...

    OR

ask them to hold while you go into a quieter room... then just dont come back ;)

The best time is after your iva has been approved - then you get to refuse to speak to the companies (its inevitable that the odd thing will cross before it gets set up properly) and you just set your IP on them.... :D

My advice would be to change your phone number and point blank refuse to give them any contact number.

My worst were MBNA (Indian call centre). Best were RBS / Bank of Ireland -understanding and non judgemental

TAKE control, be FIRM- but polite.

I wrote to all of them and told them they were getting £1.00 per month and that was it. I went with the CCCS who were great and I used their paperwork to prove I was skint.

When I wrote to them I refused any rights of access (implied or otherwise) to them or any agents. I also told them ALL communication would be in writing, or from a witheld mobile that has call recording.

It is amazing how polite they become when they are informed the calls are recorded and by continuing to talk they are consenting to call recording.

    PS
When you change your number make sure you ask for 'with hold number on all calls' option - this is free as Barclaycard store the caller ID and link it to your account.
MBNA will also look up other databases and call you, so don't give the new number out to anyone.

Most of all; good luck and remember it's only money- not a life threatening illness :D
