Bedroom wardrobe quote

Hi all
Had Sharps put in wardrobes at the end of the bedroom three years ago. Wasn't cheap, but excellent quality and really good job - no complaints (despite the horror stories).
Just had a quote to put wardrobes at the other end of the room now (i.e. Either side of the bed and then going across the top). Was looking to pay around £1500.
Quote started (as you'd guess) at around £6k. Then this discount and that discount and the because it's a Tuesday discount and he came to £2250. Then a few days later he can come down to £2125. Lowest he can possibly go. Apparently.
This includes a box headboard and two spotlights underneath the top part.
I've attached a sketch for you to take a look at (gives and idea of the size).
So my question to all you experts out there - is this a fair price?

£2k for a built in wardrobe?
I hope its made out of solid oak!0 -
From the likes of Sharps yes £2k is a prolly a fair price. I would guess betwen £750 and £1k for a chippy do make to measure on the spot (but would depend on the materials) and I think Ormus' figure is a little optimistic - unless thats just labour. So my question to all you experts out there - is this a fair price?
CheersThe difference between genius and stupidity is that genius has it's limits. - Einstein0 -
Why not ask Hammonds for a quote? Similar stuff and it'd give you an idea of how expensive sharps is maybe? If its cheaper use it as a bargaining tool!0

Thanks for your responses. The problem is that because we went with Sharps for the original wardrobes, we're now over a barrel somewhat because we need the same ones again!
Unless of course we can find someone who does something very similar.0 -

At the bottom there it says if you subscribe to their news letter and get them to fit stuff they'll give you an extra £100 discount.
Not exactly £600 off, but better than nothing if you have not used it already/can use it!0 -
They already throw that in. Even threw in £150 for having looked at their website. They over-inflate by so much to begin with that the discounts are a little bit of a joke.
Just called him back finally to tell him he was still over our budget. He said that they'd get nowhere near the £1500 that we'd budgeted for. I said to call back if he thought he could do something more and he said he won't be calling back!!0 -
We've just booked in someone to fit our wardrobes. Been through Hammonds, Spacemaker, etc, etc , ended up with a company called Verve. Booked for early March (our choice) and were £2k cheaper than the next chapest quote. They even arranged for us to view some of their work (as they don't have a showroom).0

we had a quote to cover a 3.1m wall by 2.4m high wall with wardrobes, the only quote we got was £1300 fitted, they use solid wood for the back on the wardrobes too.
dimple bedrooms, aint sure if it was cheap but was way out of our budget so we went for ikea wardrobes instead0
