Pensioner Parents Worry

Hi, Im not sure if Im in the right place but here we go, this is my first ever thread.
Can anyone give me some advice, I am really worried about my parents, my Dad is 74 and had to give up work about 5 years ago due to a heart attack, he had his own business but it all went wrong as a lot of other companied went bankrupt on him and he lost a lot of money, he therefore had to use his pension lump sum to pay money back into his business to close the debts - we believe the stress of all this caused his heart attack, they also had to sell their house and buy a small one to use the money to also pay into the business. They are also tied into equity release on their new house. My mum is 70 and is still working to keep up paying the bills etc. However, mum will not be able to work much longer and we are worried about how they are going to manage. My dad only gets state pension and my mum does not have a pension as such. Would they be entitled to anything to help them with day to day living and paying their household bills (as we all know utility prices have rised dramatically). It is worrying me so much, I cannot afford to help them myself. thanks for any advice. JJF

On top of their state pensions, they may be entitled to Pension Credit, depending on the income.
(Does your mam claim her 60% state pension top-up from your dads pension ? )
They're also entitled to Winter Fuel payments each year.
Your dad may also be entitled to Attedence Allowance, depending on what his health is like.

My views are my own reading of the law and you should always check with the local authority in question.0
