Manchester Airport VIP Lounges

I booked my summer holiday last night, stupidly forgot to get them thrown in for free as they almost always do - apparently, and I am in need of some (2 adults) airport VIP lounge passes.

Flying from Terminal 2 at Manchester Airport at 9am so get there at 6 am - roughly. With Thomson Airways Premium Seats.

As I have a choice, which lounge is the best?

Styal Lounge
Escape Lounge

Air France Executive Lounge - probably not an option but worth asking.

I don't have a Priority Pass Card.

If they don't throw them in for free when I go to the travel agents next where is the cheapest place to buy them?

Also does anyone know which terminal Thomson fly out of Cancun from and same questions above apply to appropriate terminal.

I've used both goSimply (when they were still SimplyLounges) and LoungePass previously, both were fine.

Gosimply currently list both the Styal and the Escape lounge as £18.50pp
...as do LoungePass, with the possibility of 10% quidco.

I'd recommend the escape lounge over the styal lounge by a large margin... A much better variety of food and drinks, possibly because it looks to be operated by someone other than servisair (who do the styal lounge in T2, and the bollin/wilmslow lounges in T1)

Any lounge you can pay to enter isn't worth the money.

    utter rubbish.

paid £18 per person at T2 Manchester last year. Whilst in lounge, we ate breakfast, had 3 glasses of champagne each, several teas and coffees. And it was nice and quiet.

What we consumed in there alone was worth more than the 18 quid at airport prices.

I booked through holiday extras + quidco

Absolutely agree, always book it when we fly and it is worth it for the peace and quiet. Lots to eat and drink, papers to read and a guaranteed seat.

Airport lounges offer excellent value when you consider the prices you can pay for food and drinks in the main terminal, i think they're worth the entry fee cost.

In your opinion. In my opinion the food is of an extremely poor quality. And lets be honest, it wasn't champagne, was it?

  • Just booked mine through Airmiles and got it for free. I too am flying from Terminal 2 (just before a long haul flight to Oz) and have booked the Escape Lounge as previously mentioned, it was recommended.

I disagree with it not being worth it. I have always booked the lounges, particularly before long-haul flights. The alcoholic drinks, snacks and even free newspapers/magazines are worth it for me - and the lack of screaming kids!

It is so easy to spend in airports on food, drink especially with the ban of liquids being taken through. Try waiting 3 hours without a drink when it is in excess of £1 for a soft drink at the airport!

It's a matter of opinion but I personally think it is worth it and you will probably be able to get the prices down a little using things like Quidco and Topcashback.

    Enjoy your holiday.
