Hi there,
we went to Sandylands using sun holidays about 5 years ago.. and Im sorry to say havent been back as it wasnt great :S
The caravan was clean and suited us fine, but the park facilities left alot to be desired and we found ourselves using the caravan as a base and went out and about in the local town or just played games etc in the caravan.
It may well have improved in this time, but it did put us off going back.
We usually go to Craig Tara in Ayr, but have also went to Seaton Sands which is a bit further to travel to, but the best in our opinion.
Hope the park has improved and you have a better time than us!:heart2: Lucky Mummy to two boys :heart2:....and our GIRLY BUMP due 5th April 2010:T but arriving on 23rd March :T0 -
Sorry but I wasn't keen on the park either. The caravan was lovely and we were at the opposite end of the park to the entertainment, which was a blessing to be honest.
On an evening, the entertainment building had a group of drunk youths hanging around and I was a single parent then and I found them very intimidating.
We didn't bother with any on-site facilities but we did have a lovely holiday by using the caravan as a base and getting out and about. On an evening the boys were happy to stay in the van and play board games and stuff. Here I go again on my own....0 -
its a shame about the site, however, we are only going to use it as a base andi doubt we will use facilities. daughter lives in glasgow so thats the only reason for the cheap caravan booking.
what is the town like??All the big powers they've silenced me. So much for free speech and choice on this fundamental human right, and outing the liars.0 -
The town was lovely, and if you have a car you will have scope to visit other nearby towns. There are some lovely places in Ayrshire to visit, and depending how far you are willing to go, Largs is a nice day out and you can get a ferry from there across to Millport. This is a small Island and doesnt take long to get too.
Im sure there are good train links also around the different towns in Ayrshire, and also up to Glasgow if driving is a problem.
Hope you enjoy your break!:heart2: Lucky Mummy to two boys :heart2:....and our GIRLY BUMP due 5th April 2010:T but arriving on 23rd March :T0 -
The town was nice. There's a supermarket there which is much better than the overpriced rubbish they sell in the camp shop.
We got the ferry across to Arran. It's one of the most beautiful places that I've been to and I'll certainly go back to that island.
We visited Brodick castle which was fun for the children as they'd hidden a lego man in every room and they had a sheet with cryptic clues and info about the exhibits. They really enjoyed that. It had lovely grounds too.
We also went to Culzean castle, The Big Idea science museum and had a day trip into Glasgow where had a general nosy round, rode the "clockwork orange" and went to the Transport Museum which was free! Here I go again on my own....0
