Brilliant looking SOA, can i ask how old you are? Can i also ask what you do?

I think you should really look at buying instead of renting as its almost throwing money away if you ask me?

I am seriously considering looking at the buying option, now. Dan's post gave me a view into the world of buying I didn't really know about. I always thought it was more expensive than that.

I'm 26 and have a career with an emergency service (8 years service this year :j)

Cheers lee, a great thread and relevant to my intrests. How about gonzo, how much savings do you think someone should have before getting somewhere thats £100k? And What size of salary? Does credit rating matter for it?

Lee, I think the small changes I can see to your SOA has already been covered. I just want to say huge well done. You have got £20k debt free and saved £15k within the same 13 months, you are amazing. I am sure with all the tips and hints you have picked up on here if you rent/buy you will be able to cover the costs and stay out of debt.

It's courtesy of nearly killing myself with overtime over the last 13 months LOL. I shall not be doing that anymore - the above SOA is based on my basic income. If I get overtime here and there, then great.. but I won't be looking/begging for it!

How did you manage to use £35k over 13 months on less than £2k a month? That is so good though, well done! Im hoping to be rid of £2k of debt and have at least £5k savings at the end of this year, aiming more at £10-12k. On a basic salary of £13k just now, upto £16.5k in Aug so £1200 average a month, with overtime could be upto £1500 easy. So really im hoping to have at least 4 months salary saved up, aiming for 8 months!

I live on my own single bed flat , if I was you I'd budget
electric £25 a month, but I sit in the dark alot:cool:
Gas £20 a month, the heating is on 3or4 hours a day max , its pretty well insulated and if your out at work doesn't need to be on:cool:
And don't forget cashback sites:D

Water go on to a water meter and budget £15/£20 a month
Council tax you will get single person discount (if you are living on your own);)
