DHL not delivering - please help ASAP!

I have a very important parcel that was sent by a friend of mine to me. It was sent on Monday 11th and my friend paid for the 24hr DHL delivery service.
On the 12th the parcel was stuck in one of DHLs terminals for a day for no reason afaik and then on the 13th which is today, the parcel is at my local depot but it isn't "out for delivery". I'm fuming because I'm going on holiday tommorow and can't leave the parcel with anyone else as the item that is to be delivered is a holiday item
Here is the tracking:
Arrived At Depot 13/01/10 02:40 ASHTON SERVICE CENTRE
Arrived At Depot 13/01/10 02:38 ASHTON SERVICE CENTRE
Undelivered - adverse weather 12/01/10 07:30 ASHTON SERVICE CENTRE
Arrived At Depot 12/01/10 00:38 MANCHESTER TERMINAL
Departed Depot 11/01/10 18:00 GLASGOW SERVICE CENTRE
Parcel Picked Up 11/01/10 11:35 GLASGOW SERVICE CENTRE
Shipment Data Received 11/01/10 GLASGOW SERVICE CENTRE
Can I pick it up myself from the local depot with identification? If so, would a british passport suffice as the ID?
I've read on these forums and elsewhere that you can only pick up a parcel if you have had the "missed delivery" card posted through the letterbox which I haven't since DHL haven't attempted delivery yet.
Please advise.

Probably worth giving customer services a call: 0844 248 05550

Why not give your local depot a call and armed with the tracking number they should be able to tell you if its left for delivery.
And no, you can't collect it until they've attempted to deliver.0 -

Any reason why?
What if the tracking says Undelivered - adverse weather can I collect?0 -

Heavy snow falling again. I doubt the parcel will even get delivered so I'm on hold right now on the phone with my local service centre.0

Ok, got them to hold the parcel for collection today, hope its still there when I arrive!0

Forgot to ask them what form of ID would suffice for collection.
Would a debit card or passport be ok?0 -
I'd imagine something with a photo and proof of name & address. Passport or driving licence would be the way to go.0

Collected yesterday with my driving licence. The service centre was chaotic!0

Hi,
Do you have the number for Ashton local depot pls? I am waiting for my parcel and last night's closing info says "unable to locate" - which is loads of rubbish, as the address is my place of work and we are DHL's customers (approx £7k spend a month!)!!
I rung the customer services and they gave me number for the driver, but the guy on the phone said he is no longer DHL's driver!0
