    In what context?

Your IP is banned from a server, or you want to visit a site on a blacklist?

If it is forums etc, use an open proxy server ;)
Since when has the world of computer software design been about what people want? This is a simple question of evolution. The day is quickly coming when every knee will bow down to a silicon fist, and you will all beg your binary gods for mercy.

IIRC Unless they are on the same subnet, their MAC address won't make it past the first router. It will be stripped and replaced by the default gateway's.

this is correct, whent he packets come back through the router its the routeing table (forget its proper name) that sends the right packets to the right machine based on its MAC.

However, if you are on a subnet then its more than likely you are on a big network (work or school) and the technicians will have band the domain (https://www.google.co.uk) and its banned on the server used for accessing the internet.. however a lazy or foolish technician will only ban the domain and not the IP (216.239.59.99). if you enter that IP into your browser you should get google..

To get a sites IP you can ping it, this can be done online so you dont have to get round the restrictions that are probably in place that are local...

    http://ping.eu/

Now there are Proxy servers.. most decent networks ban access to these aswell. but will work at home etc to access content that is banned based on country restrictions. This will also work if you are trying to access a forum that has blocked your IP, it probably wont work on a big network as its the EXTERNAL ip that gets banned and to change that you will need admin rights on the network.

[greenhighlight]but it matters when the most senior politician in the land is happy to use language and examples that are simply not true.

The impact of this is to stigmatise people on benefits,
and we should be deeply worried about that
