  • I aim for the drum to be around 2/3 to 3/4 full of loosely packed in clothes. Duvet covers and pillow cases I do on their own - not just because of weight but also to avoid a dye run disaster.

My washers on twice a day or more and the last one was replaced at 7 years old but wasn't broken internally, it'd just been took apart after my son fed it a bottle top and we lost parts to put it back together

I am a little geeky and actually like sites like http://www.washerhelp.co.uk/washing-machine-usage.html this site states a hands width roughly, 3-4 inches, so I knew I was doing it right. I am naughty and put single 5 tog duvets in, but not broken it yet and use low spin settings.
One day I might be more organised...........
    GC: £200
Slinkies target 2018 - another 70lb off (half way to what the NHS says) so far 25lb
  • Sounds silly..if you can put your arm in and go 'flap flap' moving about 30 degrees/7", it's unlikely to be overfilled.
I could dream to wide extremes, I could do or die: I could yawn and be withdrawn and watch the world go by.

I've had my Bosch for thirteen years now. I don't stuff the drum tight but there have been a few loads where I couldn't have done the hand on top thing, oops. Doesn't seem to bother the machine though. The manual proclaims it has "fuzzy logic", whatever the heck that is and can tweak the program length to suit the load. I would have thought a more modern machine would be as responsive?
