Laundry weights

Hi
I hope someone can help me, I've just had a new Bosch washing machine (which is fab) and I'm really going to (do my best to) look after it.
I'm worried about over-loading it so I'd like to find some guidelines on weights of various things, like king size cotton duvet covers, mattress/pillow protectors, bath sheets, jeans etc.
I've got a bit of info from various sites by googling and tried to search on here but no joy.
Can anyone point me in the right direction please.
Thanks in advance.

According to my washing machine manual:
1 sheet 400-500g
1 pillowcase 120-200g
1 tablecloth 400-500g
1 bathrobe 900-1200g
1 towel 150-250gDum Spiro Spero0 -
Thanks for that, anguk, I found something similar - but I don't know if that's a single sheet, double or kingsize and likewise with the towel.
I don't want to assume that my kingsize Egyptian cotton sheet only weighs 400 - 500gm if that's for a single polycotton one.
But conversely, I don't want to split my loads too small.
Maybe I'm taking my 'I lurve my Bosch washing machine' attitude a tad too far.
Thanks again.0 -
haven't tried, but the dylon website might be useful - might give weights for items because people need to know before dying things?0

Thanks, ubamother.
It has given me some weights that I've added to my 'list', although some are a little contradictory but I'll go with the heaviest.0 -
I was obsessive about weights of loads in my machine when it was new and weighed the basket on the bathroom scale. I soon got over it!People seem not to see that their opinion of the world is also a confession of character.

What matters a lot with weight is more keeping to same weigh in drum, example if you're washing loads of light weight tops then stick a pair of jeans in this will make it unbalanced. I wash jeans/towels together as they are heavier/take in more water. Large duvet covers if heavy I do on their own. If I am doing the boys single ones I will pop 2 in usually and possibly a bottom sheet. You'll probably find with weight, you can't overload it without having to wedge your foot against the door to close it. I always make sure there is a couple of inches of space so the clothes can move around/clean properly. One day I might be more organised...........

Slinkies target 2018 - another 70lb off (half way to what the NHS says) so far 25lb0 -

thanks for that, I tend to put trousers/jeans together and do my bath towels together and my other towels/tea towels etc together so I'm probably not mis-balancing it.
I've not had to jam my foot against the door yet so I'm probably OK.
OH NO!
I'm going to worry now that I'm UNDERLOADING the damn machine. :rotfl:
Thanks for the replies, guys, I think I'm going to take a chill pill and not get too hung up on weight (except my own, that is). :rolleyes:0 -
I read somewhere (I think it was my washing machine manual...not sure) that you should have roughly the length of your hand between the top of the washing and the drum.0

Oh no, you've done it now, Lilium - I've only got very short hands. :rotfl:
Seriously, thanks very much to everybody for taking the time to reply what is (on reflection) a pretty trivial issue. :T
I'll just do what I think best.
My old washing machine lasted between 8 and 10 years (can't quite remember when I bought it) so I couldn't have been doing too much wrong, don't you think?0
