just wondered if anyone has had this happen with there natwest account. i only have a solo account put i have noticed 1 month in 3 and it happened yesterday they take a double payment ie:- spend £30 in a shop used card to pay its taken out the account the same day , check on line 2 days after a second ofthe same payment been removed from you account unexpectedly.
i phoned them each time and you have to wait till the next working day for the money to be returned .
any ideas why it happens and what would you do about it ?

No idea, in all the time I had a Natwest current account (I still have but don't use it) it never happened to me, the only thing like that was I once went to a cash machine, withdrew £20, stood talking to someone after the money came out and it said "Money has been retained as it was not taken by customer" naturally I did it again and when I checked it had been debited twice. That turned out to be the ATM operators fault (they admitted that in a letter of apology) and they refunded it. Could it be the shop at fault not the bank?If you don't like what I say slap me around with a large trout and PM me to tell me why.
If you do like it please hit the thanks button.0 -
We have just had the same prob, we have a Natwest Solo card and it has been debited twice for nearly £200 and Natwest still have our money 5days later, and in my mind thats theft, what i want to know is where is my money now, they say it will be returned but in the mean time they have a interest free loan via me, for all i know they might be investing it quickly to make a quick buck for themselves, and if i was to go overdrawn they would charge me! Its daylight robbery.0

If it was debited twice in a shop, then how is that Natwest's fault? If it is a system error, then yes it may be down to them.0 -
It was a banking error, i.e Natwest fault as i rang tesco as they were one of the payments which were debitted twice, and they investigated and said they recieved their payment, what time it was recieved and even double checked to make sure it wasnt swiped twice.0
