Snow covered double yellows

Today, I got to the road where I usually park. Along this road there are double yellow lines, however there are a few bays with no lines, room for 2/3 cars.

As all the lines are covered in snow you couldn't tell where the "no-lines" area is, I parked behind two others cars roughly where I think I usually park.

There are also the street signs saying no parking 8-6 Mon - Sat which obviously apply to the double yellow lines areas.

Can I get a ticket for parking here?

Thanks

Probably not in the circumstances (but you never know). But the fact that you have written in here means you must think you are on the double yellows so are taking the mick a wee bit and chancing your arm.

You CAN get done for this. Parking on double yellows is a 'strict liability' offence so the prosecution only need to establish the 'actus reus' but not the 'mens rea'. In English that means that as long as you've committed the offence you're 'guilty', whether or not you actually intented to do so.

In any case what happens if a warden comes along and clears the snow? It's not worth taking the risk in my opinion.
