I have the magimix one and I love it BUT it IS heavy.I love the way the level indicator panel lights up blue when switched on.
Unlike some other metal kettles its double lined so the outside doesn't get too hot.
    I got mine here,and 4% quidco!

  • I never buy anything other than a £5 kettle from Asda. It works, it breaks, It's replaced and so on.

Kettles, toasters, irons, etc, are pretty much all the same. As heavily used pieces of domestic equipment, they will break at some point.

£30 for a kettle every two years, or £5 every 10 months. What's the difference. They both boil water.:)

Many years ago ( about 10+) I bought a kettle from Comet. I keep the box and the receipt and as I have never had a kettle even last a whole year they replace them without any bother. I thought I had lost out this year but the kettle which broke was guaranted for 2 years so another kettle for free to last a while longer. :rotfl:
  • If you live in a hard water area I'd highly recommend a Breville/Brita kettle. It's fab not to need a seperate filter on the work top. I'm sometimes tempted by the Dualit kettle etc but not enough to change from my Breville/Brita.

  • Thanks to all. I went along to Comet on the way home after work yesterday and spent half an hour going up and down the line of about 50+ kettles, narrowing down my selection as I went.

There is something quite nice about handling a kettle in the shop, checking the weight (some are surprisingly heavy), popping the lids open and closed, and generally being very tactile.

In the end I went with this one:

Kenwood Energy Sense Kettle. Looks a bit like a coffee jug.

It was quite light compared to others, you can see how much water is inside very easily, and er, thats about it really. Looks ok too.

I'm now happy to be drinking 'rust free' tea! Thanks for all your advice!

Please, if anyone can tell me of a good iron to purchase. Must take comfort vapouresse ironing water or tap. Love the fresh smell. Also want an iron which has a strong steam output - hate the chore and anything that can be done to make it more enjoyable is great. Hope someone out there can help me asap as mine has broken after three good years. BOO HOO:confused:
