Derby to Birmingham
I am driving to East Birmingham (Castle Bromwich) tomorrow from Derby - google says the journey is 46 miles and will take 54 minutes.
I need to be there for 9am - how much time should I allow for a) traffic and b) current weather conditions?

What route are you planning on taking?0

Google Maps suggests M42, M6, A452 (but seems to be going on the M6 toll which I would rather not pay)
Ending up in Castle Bromwich0 -
So you're going M1, A42/M42, M6 (you don't go on the M6 Toll)? I used to travel from Nottingham to Worcester every week starting with that route and it would take me 45 mins to an hour to get upto the junction with the M6 and that was me leaving early at around 6:15 and I'm no slouch either. If you going at peak time from Derby I'd give it at least an 1 1/2 hours if not longer to be on the safe side.
I'm not sure if it be any quicker going via the A38.0 -
Yeah seems that just the place it said M6 toll was confusing me but don't go on it
Thanks for your help - I'll set off at 7am0 -
Just past the Tamworth junction the M42 will merge into 4 lanes, move over onto the inside two lanes signposted M6N as soon as you can but watch for traffic undertaking on the inside.0

If it's critical that you be there for 9am, then allow at least 2 hours.
Rather get there early and wait than be late & have to make excuses.0
