Barclaycard Balance Transfer - Any help?

Hello,

I have a Barclaycard Platinum card which I recently paid off my balance in full. I have been a long-term Barclaycard customer for many years and have never missed a payment. I am now left with a £2,600 limit.

My problem is - I have a balance on another card which I wanted to transfer over to my Platinum card but Barclaycard Customer Services have told me that they cannot offer me "any" balance transfer at all because there are no offers. I told the agent I didn't mind if I had to pay 14.9% for the balance transfer as I am already paying 19.9% on my other card. The agent said he cannot proceed as there is no offers on my card.

Has anyone else been in this same situation? I find it very strange as I am looking to put more business their way and I have never missed a payment during the many years I have been a Barclaycard customer. I have asked to be put through to a customer loyalty department but they have refused me as there were no offers available to me.

Any help with this situation would be very welcome as I am worried that Barclaycard may now cut my credit limit as I have read about this happening to a lot of customers.

Many thanks,

creditcardnewbie

why not simply use your B/C for all your normal spending and use the money you would otherwise have spent to pay off as much as possible on your other card

    Hi Clapton,

Many thanks for your prompt reply.

My preference would be to get the balance transfer if possible to pay off the card with the higher APR. It is my own fault I know that I am in this mess - I just assumed that Barclaycard would give me the balance transfer - kicking myself now for that. To be fair the first Barclaycard agent was very surprised there was no balance transfer deals on my card and said she would let me know when one came up. But, my fear is that Barclaycard will reduce my credit limit like they have done to many others on this site.

But, your idea of using my Platinum card for normal spending is something I will definitely do if I am denied the balance transfer and will pay more off the higher APR card.

Many thanks again for your reply,

    by chance I've just opened by barclaycard statement..which is offering a BT;
no use to you of course

If your credit rating os OK why not apply for another credit card with a 0% BT offer?

    Hi Clapton,

I would be delighted if I was offered the 6.9 balance transfer. I have switched to paperless statements with Barclaycard but just checked my online statements and there is no sign of 6.9 on there. I have sent an email to Barclaycard so will give them a while to respond before applying for another card.

    Hi Stephane,

Many thanks for your reply. It is good to hear that the 6.9% offer is still being handed out. I will keep contacting Barclaycard and push for this. The agent I spoke to on the phone said she was really surprised that I had no offers on my account and would make a note of it. I have also emailed Barclaycard myself so fingers crossed they get back to me with this offer.

Will let you all know how I get on. Many thanks for all your replies - I am very grateful.
