Hmmm not helpful. Have you tried saying something along the lines of
'some of the things you say are really hurtful to me. Is there something worrying you that's turned you into this person I don't like because perhaps sharing it would help.'
and if he doesn't budge I would seriously consider packing him a suitcase and telling to come back when he can treat you like a human being and not like a skivvy...
