in Credit cards
I turned 18 just before christmas and applied for credit a couple times on my birthday and got rejected , i then got told by the bank they had put a marker on my account so this was took off after christmas. i then tried to apply for credit again a few times and got more rejection, will this effect my credit scoring for the next few years or will it be cleared up after a few months or so.

Credit Searches stay on your file for 12 months. A lot of credit searches within this time will have a negative effect on your credit report. I'd advice you not to apply for a while. The older the searches are, the less damage they cause when applying for new products.
It is unlikely at 18 you will get a main stream credit card/credit. Apply for sub-prime lenders such as Aqua Card, Vanquis, CapitalOne and BarclayCard Initial.0
