well it was one of the microsoft techies who LEAKED / uploaded it.

and that makes it okay does it

so if an employee of barclays bank gives you the safe code and you rob the joint

is that okay as the staff gave you the code?

How do you know that? The description in the wiki for MS Office 2007 makes it seem far more likely that this is a cover story created by those who cracked the licensing on Office, in order to make it appear more "legitimate" and therefore perceived to be less dangerous by people who download it from completely unknown and untrustworthy sources.

Use an antivirus either AVG Free or Microsoft Security Essentials. Also get Spybot S&D. What I would do is install them, update them, then disconnect from the Internet and go into safe mode, and run a scan on all of them, that will probably get shut of it.

It's more likely that there never was any office software in the download, it's just a virus only, probably padded with useless data to make it look about the same size as a real full office download.

Anyone could have done that and repackaged it.

I used Microsoft Security Essentials for my laptop. It's actually recommended on this site :) You do need a genuine copy of windows though.

Next time don't download illegal pirated software. Openoffice is a really good free programme.

Even if AVG has cleaned the infected files, don't risk trying to run it again, chances are it won't work anyway because the programmer probably has replaced the working startup executable with his own rogue one with the virus included, just delete all of it.
