NCB Query

Hi, as mentioned in another post I crashed my car and the insurance is taking care of the repair. probably a naive question but what effect will this have on my NCB?

prior to the accident i have 7 years which are protected. come renewal do I 'forfeit' this years bonus or can I state i have 8 years? I am working on the assumption that I have lost this years bonus, but any advice is appreciated?

i know my premium is going to increase due to the claim by approx £100ish if I stick with same insurer (checked on the price comparison sites) but I stated a value of £2000 for the claim (just an over-estimate assumption, maybe) - the question here is if the claim increases/decreases/car written off does this figure affect the premium or is just the fact a claim has been made that determines the increase?

strangely enough LVE is quoting a price that is actually lower than my current premium

btw I am checking the insurance of the car I have managed not to crash

also slightly off topic, the road tax for the car in the garage is due at the end of the month. do I still have to tax the car if it is declared a write-off? - I am waiting on the assessment before I do buy a new disc, but if no assessment is forthcoming by then I suppose I better tax it or can it be declared SORN? - the next question here does this affect the insurance?

then assuming the car is to be fixed do I need to take the tax disc to the garage in case they do a test drive (if they do) to ensure the car is ok prior to handing it back to me?

sorry for all the questions, first time I have had to make a claim so not sure of the workings!

thanks in advance!
