Hi,
First time poster, and wasn't sure where best to put this on forums so sorry if it's in the wrong place...
Got a call about 1/2 hr ago from my gf and shes just found a letter in the post from the solicitor of a guy she had a (quite serious) collision with about 2 years ago.
Like I say she's only just recieved it so a bit sketchy on details right now but shes getting all her paperwork together as we speak, but just wondering what to do about it . Naturally shes very shaken up
Thing is, they settled this through the insurance at the time. Now they are asking for cost of storage and credit costs on loan car or something. Can they do this? Even at this late stage?
Any help or guidance would be really really helpful.
Thanks,
CT.

It's likely that your girlfriend's insurers know about the storage and hire costs and have been disputing them - it's quite normal for the solicitors to send letters like this when the costs are in dispute. Tell your girlfriend to give her insurers a call in the morning and then send the letters on to them.
It really is nothing to worry about!0 -
Don't worry, my OH was in a 'bump' a few years ago and he also got a letter from the other persons solicitors about costs, freaked him out no end as he was fairly new driver but a quick call to insurance sorted it. I personally think they shouldn't be allowed to do this, had I not been there I think my poor OH would have writted a cheque!!:rotfl:Ahahah got my signature removed for claiming MSE thought it was too boring :rotfl:0

Don't worry. As said, this is just where the insurers have been disputing the value of their claim.
Your GF needs to pass the papers over and the insurers will deal with it. Even if County Court proceedings get issued the insurers will deal with it and if your GF has admitted liability she won't need to be involved at all.
Tell her not to panic...Piglet

As a personal injury solicitor I endorse the other comments that you should send the letter to your GFs insurers ASAP for them to deal with.
Its likely the storage/hire costs are being disputed and that the other drivers Sols are threatening court proceedings to try to bring matters to a head. Your GFs insurers will deal with it.
Hope this helps allay her fears.0
