budget buy

oysterman

is this computer good value, or can i get something similar cheaper, i only use for the internet but my daughter wants one that she can download stuff fom the internet , can she do it with this one + thinking of getting a camcorder later on, can i use this to store film on. As you prob no i do not have a clue ref computers, any help woyld be great.

HI,

Sorry--cannot recommend that---3 problems----only 40GB Hard disk (wont be able to store many films), only 256mb ram (take atleast 512MB), integrated SIS graphics. Semperon processor not bad---much better to take at Athlon XP

For a decent spec, I would recommend at least an AthlonXP 2500, 512MB ram, DVD writer, 120MB hard disk, Geforce 4 or Radeon graphics card.

There's a fourth problem; it's from ebuyer. After using them without problems over the past few years and recommending them to others here, it has all gone horribly wrong with my latest order (as someone else here forecast it would) and the customer service is abysmal.

I paid for 24 hour delivery and they sent the wrong item by standard delivery (6 days). They won't refund the 24hr delivery extra charge (requests are ignored) and won't send the right item until I get an RMA and return the wrong item at my cost despite me paying for and needing 24hr delivery! eNote issues are ignored and eNotes get closed without resolution. There's no way to phone them and the eNote system is painfully slow. Next stop is Trading Standards and my credit card company, but I've joined the ranks of those who say - DON'T DO IT! I know it's only about a tenner I'm out but there's a principle at stake. Why should I pay for their mistakes? >:(
