Claiming against Credit Card PPI after made redundant

My wife was recently made redundant 2 weeks into her maternity leave. She therefore contacted Lloyds TSB who provide her credit card to make a claim against her Payment Protection Cover. She has now been informed that Lloyds will not cover her payments as she is NOT actiely seeking work. How they expect her to actively look for work with a 2 week old baby is beyond me. Although Lloyds knew this, they still refused her claim.
Any advice anyone can offer on this subject would be great

If your wife had read the terms and conditions of the PPI she would have known she would not be covered.
I know this is not what you wanted to hear but perhaps the redundancy can be used to pay off the credit card debt and then cancel the PPI until she finds another job.0 -
Thanks for the advice. However, without a redundancy package that may be difficult. Also we not had a penny of Maternity Pay for last 3 months either !!!! C'est la Vie0

As an employer, I can tell you how dodgy it is to make someone on maternity leave redundant. Exception can be where the employment has been less than 12 months.
Unfortunately this smacks of another case of the PPI company taking the premiums then finding a way of squirming out of coughing up."A child of five could understand this. Fetch me a child of five." - Groucho Marx0 -
Canny Jock, many thanks for your post. My wife had been with the company for ove 3 years when company went into administration !!! annoying, made even more mad by PPI from Lloyds0
