Mobile phone contract when BR
startingover
Hi all
I'd like to know if I can enter in a new 18 month contract when BR? Is it seen as a credit agreement? It could be over £500.
Reason I'm asking is today I chanced my arm and applied for a contract phone online and much to my amazement was accepted :eek::eek:
I honestly thought I would be turned down.
I'm now having second thoughts and panicking like mad if I would get in trouble with the OR.
Would the OR find out about this new contract somehow?
Comments and advice greatly accepted.
Thanks in advance.

If it is over £500 then you have to tell the creditor you are BR, assuming you are BR?:pB&SC No. 298

Thanks Dojoman
The contract over the 18month period will probably equate to over £500.
Is it seen as a credit agreement?0 -
Oh and yes I am BR0

To be honest not totally sure whether this classed as credit or not, hopefully one of the other more knowledgable forumites will be able to answer that for you.:pB&SC No. 298

I've read elsewhere that its a contract for service and not for credit.0

But the service costs money which is what the credit is for, ie, you are signing up for 12 months service and they are letting you pay in installments.

So It seems I have 2 options, tell them I'm BR or just send the phone back?
Also how would the OR know I had entered into a contract, do they do a search?0 -

If you do not tell the creditor you are breaking the terms of your bankruptcy, so I would be very careful. Did they ask you whether you are BR?:pB&SC No. 298

No they didn't ask. I think I'm going to send it back as don't feel too good about this.0

I'm very suprised they allowed you the contact in the first place...when did you go BR??....as others say your breaking the terms of your legal documents you agreed to and signed in court if you dont disclose the facts....they can & will find out eventually if you dont & it'll come back to bite you hard especially if the receiver finds out...you could be looking at anything from a BRO to suspension of discharge...not really worth it but then what do I know about anything...We all die. The goal isn't to live forever, the goal is to create something that will0
