Yet another boiler question.

Hi
Would really appreciate your views on our estimate. It's someone recommended, we are new to area so don't know who else to get a quote from.
Estimate was|2900
To resite boiler from kitchen to utility room so needs new pipe work from garage to new site, change from floor standing to a combi boiler, a vaillant 37kw, scale reducer, wireless thermostat, remove old tanks in loft and airing cupboard, all pipe work and fittings, powerflush, 5yr parts and labour guarantee, VAT and labour.

Also, if we go ahead with this, it's an estimate so I assume cost could go up, is there anything I can do to get a fixed price or just not possible with this?
We have a large 4 bed detached house only 1 bathroom though are combis ok have heard a bit about water flow etc
Many thanks for reading

Knock on a few neighbours doors and ask. Sure they won't mind and you can prolly get a couple that way. Go to GasSafe site and pick a local one. If you realy want a shock ask BG - LoL. You really do need a minimum of three quotes to be able to do a proper comparison.

Sounds in the right sort of ballpark. Perhaps a bit pricey.

Tell him you want a quote NOT an estimate. No reason why he shouldn't give you a firm price. As I said seems a bit pricey on the face of it

You'll get differeing opinions on this I'm afraid. Some will say that a combi is only suitable for a flat or small house - others entirely the opposite. See what your other potential installer recommend for your particular project.

    Cheers

  • ask for a fixed quote in writing, that is v. common with cenral heating installation

£2,900 doesn't sound far off to be honest

Sounds about right, I paid £3,000 for more or less this time last year.

great boiler but just remember you only can get out what you put in (water) i have been to many high output boiler where the installer hasnt check the water pressure and sometimes the boiler wont work or if they do only as good as say a 24kw boiler (which would have cost much less) so if the installer didnt check water flow and pressure run a mile and find one that does
